Reseaching the Atomic Theory

Personally, I enjoy a good challenge- and I also like to challenge each student! Which is exactly what I did yesterday.  The students were given a scientist, directions for their research, model building supplies and not much else. I wanted to see what kinds of things they would and could create!

For those of you interested here is an outline for their assignment:
Students were given a scientist who has had an impact on the atomic theory- they had to find...
1. Nationality of scientist
2. Describe the scientist impact on atomic model
3. What atomic model did their scientist develop?
4. A drawing of the atomic model developed by their scientist.
5. A 3-D atomic model developed by their scientist.

But here is the challenging part..... they only had ONE day in class to complete all the work.  I was REALLY impressed with how hard everyone worked.

Today, the students are going to present their atomic models and scientist.  I will post pictures of their creations! You will be impressed! They did great!

Starting off with a bang!

We have been in school for about two weeks already- and so much learning has taken place!! (I will update as we go!)  I just wanted to take this opportunity to let you see inside our science classroom and see all the "good stuff" taking place. My goal for this blog is to keep everyone up to date on the assignments and labs that take place in this classroom.  (So if you have been absent- check HERE!!!!!!) I encourage you to follow along as we achieve our goals and grow throughout this school year! I will be updating regularly with key understandings and student expectations- so you can get the chance to track your students progress all year.  I will also use this blog to share PowerPoint, web addresses and other learning tools- for science tutorials!!  I look forward to working with each student- this year has already started off with a bang!!
